Field Trip and More!

What a busy week!  We began our week with a field trip to the fire station and to Chappy's Deli.  The fire fighters taught us many safety tips and let us explore througout the station.  We especially enjoyed the fire trucks!  Chappy's was great too.  We were able to tour the kitchen and the big walk - in freezer.  We also enjoyed a delicious Chappy's meal.  Thanks again to those of you who drove and chaperoned for our field trip.  We couldn't do it without you!  Take a look at  the pictures to see a few of the other activities we enjoyed in our class this week.  We practiced "building" letters with our magnetic letter pieces as well as with playdough.  Other activities you will see are fun with numbers, cutting practice, and exploring letters and sounds on the computer.  Afternoon center time is fun too.  A class favorite is "Mr. Potato Head".  Next week we will review the letters and numbers we've learned and begin a unit on apples.  Ask your child to tell you all about it each day.  Please notice the "Alphafriends" take home books your child is bringing home.  There is one for each letter we learn.  As we review this week, please follow up at home with the activity on the "family involvement" page in each booklet.

Our Fiesta

We celebrated Mexican Independence Day in our Spanish class this week with Senora Hickson.  Mrs. Letner taught us the Mexican Hat Dance.  We also frosted cupcakes with red, white, and green frosting to look like the Mexican flag.  As you can see in the photo, we enjoyed the cupcakes outside.  On Monday we will be going on our first field trip.  We will visit the fire station on Carmichael Rd. followed by lunch at Chappy's on Perry Hill.  We are really looking forward to a great time!

Fun and Learning in K4

We are busy learning!

We had another great week in K4 at Trinity!  We practiced writing our names and letters in shaving cream  on the table.  What fun!  We also counted and made sets with frogs, pigs, chocolate chips, and bears.  Our K4 students are learning to make sets of objects and match a number with that set.  I'm looking forward to another week of learning and fun with your children!
